Our mission to feed as many vulnerable homes as possible, with our bbq brisket stovies during COVID-19 lockdown has come to an end.
Living remotely ourselves, we were conscious that there would be many elderly living alone and vulnerable during the first lockdown who might not have much food supplies at home; so after our kitchen was forced to shut, we turned some of the beef we had ready to serve into stovies so we could help where we could. We turned to social media to ask you lovely people if you knew anyone locally we could deliver to locally and within an hour, all the stovies pots were claimed and we were planning our delivery route!
Heartbreakingly, there were far more requests sent to us than we had stovies. But after Karla Sinclair at the Evening Express shared our original story, the news spread about our attempts to help the elderly and it wasn't long before the kindness and generousity outpoured from our customers, asking how to donate some money to keep this "stovies drive" going!
We wanted to help spread kindness by doing what we do best - providing comfort food that is good for the soul. And as a result of everyone's generosity - and the kindness of our team who used their free time to help make and deliver over 140 free meals to those in need - we feel as a community we have achieved just that.
THANK YOU
